Let Go of the Banana

There is a story that goes something like this...
A monkey approaches a steel box, glass jar or what-have-you, and smells something tasty inside. It's a banana and that monkey is hungry. The monkey reaches his little hand into the just-big-enough hole and snags that banana. VICTORY! Right?

Wrong.

Now the monkey is tight-fisting the banana and can't get his little hand out of that hole. He's going bizerk to get his hand out. He feels the danger. He knows this is NOT good (ahhh, but it was so EASY to put my hand in!)...but he can't get his hand out until he lets go of that banana.

Remember, he's never going to get that fruit. It was never meant to satisfy him because it's a TRAP. An empty, useless decoy.

Hebrews 12:1b "...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles."

I could say so much here. We all have our distractions in life. Things we are holding so tightly to that serve as a trap to keep us from experiencing the fully-orbed life God intended for us. The free, fearless, faith-filled life He created us to live.

Let go of the banana and receive the BANQUET.
